What is integrative medicine?
Integrative medicine describes the medical discipline that employs a holistic approach to patient care addressing their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It looks at each person, individually and utilizes a whole-body approach to optimize health and wellness. Integrative medicine uses both traditional and alternative medicine moralities, when appropriate, to provide the best care possible.
The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.Thomas Eddison
At Evolve, we expand on this definition in several ways. First, we assess the “root-cause” of disease rather than treating symptomology. Through specialized laboratory testing techniques and comprehensive medical evaluation, we assess the underlying reasons for disease processes and tailor our care accordingly. Next, we focus on a “healthcare” medicine model versus a “sick care” medicine model. By educating patients on and customizing care around disease prevention, we aim to minimize healthcare cost, create a healthier population and keep patients healthier, longer. Lastly, our integrative medicine model concentrates on reversal of complex, chronic diseases with the most natural approaches possible, including nutrition, physical activity and lifestyle alterations.
